Your family is one of a kind. No one can make you laugh, cry, fume or neutral quite like your family can. As a teenager you hate them when they’re around, but miss them when they’re gone. Parents would give almost anything for a few minutes of peace from a toddler, but coddle them after work. Your family is priceless to you, and you would never do anything to hurt them. In fact, you promised that to your spouse at the altar. Husbands and Wives are happiest when their family life is happy. This is a universal law, and employers can take advantage of this to improve their business.

As an employer, you can improve the quality of your employee’s lives by encouraging family time. One way you can do this is by sponsoring a work family evening every week. Pick a consistent day, time and place to gather your employees together. You can do anything from grilling hotdogs and playing touch football to hosting a game night with several different board games to play. It doesn’t have to be elaborate; it just needs to be consistent and fun. The point is to get the family together.

The more time a family can spend together, the more closely knit they become. They are offered chances to see each other in new and dynamic situations. Memories are created and shared in these new situations that might never have happened without a stimulating activity.

Offer them fun activities for all ages and an open invitation to bring whoever they want. As the weeks progress you’ll begin to see a change in how they treat their families and co-workers. If you’re not feeling very creative yourself, you can encourage them to spend time with their families by not scheduling meetings in the evenings or closing early on one day a week.

Whatever you do, make sure your workers know the purpose. The most important thing to remember is that you are not trying to deceive them in any way. Be sincere in your efforts to help them and their work will improve on its own.
